As a native Floridian, Karla Ryan was born on the world's most famous beach in
Daytona Beach. She grew up on the beach and in the hospitality industry, with her family
owning a motel directly on the ocean. After spending 18 years in Daytona Beach and
learning the family business, she decided to study Hospitality Administration at Florida
State University. She spent 14 years in the hospitality industry with major players like
Starwood Hotels and Universal Studios.

With her desire to transition from hospitality to real estate, it seemed natural for Karla to
join a Florida born real estate firm, Watson Realty. Since it’s inception in 1965, Watson
has grown to over 50 real estate offices throughout Florida and South Georgia and one
of the largest private firms in Florida. As a locally owned family business, Karla was
inspired by the great Floridian success story of Bill Watson, the founder. The Watson
